Monika Sęk - oboe
In 2008 she graduated from the M. Karłowicz State Music School in Katowice. She graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Kraków, in the oboe class of Professor Arkadiusz Krupa and Professor Jerzy Kotyczko, as well as completing postgraduate soloist studies. In 2021 she received a doctorate in musical arts.
Since 2009 she has cooperated with such orchestras as Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Sinfonietta Cracovia, Polish Chamber Philharmonic in Sopot, Sinfonia Varsovia, Poznań Philharmonic, Gorzów Philharmonic. She has worked under the baton of distinguished conductors: Krzysztof Penderecki, Łukasz Borowicz, Tomasz Tokarczyk and others.
At the 4th International Academic Oboist and Bassoonist Competition in Łódź, she was awarded 3rd Prize (2nd Prize was not awarded. In 2011 she was nominated by the Rector of the Academy of Music in Katowice to represent Poland at the Lions European Music Competition for Oboe, where she won the 3rd Prize Winner Music Competition, and at the Concours pour Jenues Solistes in Luxembourg she was awarded the 2nd Prize.
In 2012 she became 1st Oboist of the Cracow Opera Orchestra and in 2013 also of the Beethoven Academy Orchestra.
Since 2016 she has been working as an assistant in the Department of Woodwind Instruments at the Academy of Music in Kraków, since 2020 she has been teaching at the Academy of Music in Łódź. She recently passed the exam for the position of Deputy 1st voice at the Lodz Philharmonic.
In 2020 she was awarded a Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage – "Culture on the Web", under which she conducted online music workshops.
