About project
A completely new ninth edition of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra
This unique musical project initiated in 2013, as part of the celebration of the centenary of the birth of Witold Lutosławski. Every year the Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin invites young musicians from Poland and other European countries to their headquarters to see the work of the orchestra's patron under the guidance of renowned instrumentalists and educators. The culmination of the weekly work of the project participants is the final concert in the golden symphony hall of the Szczecin Philharmonic.
The ninth edition is yet another, incredible opportunity for young musicians to take a place in the prestigious symphonic concert under the baton of the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra – Rune Bergmann. As every year, preparation for the concert will be held under the supervision of renowned instrumentalists and teachers during the workshops for each of the instrumental sections.
The idea of the project is to create an opportunity for aspiring instrumentalists to gain inspiration and excel their musical skills under the eye of the best musicians in Europe and to present these skills in the orchestra of the unique project inspired by Witold Lutoslawski’s works. Every year, the programme is strongly based on the inspirations and works of the famous Polish composer. This summer, the musicians will be able to do their best in the following programme:
Albert Russel – "Petite suite" op. 39
Witold Lutosławski – "Chantefleurs et chantefables"
Andrzej Panufnik – Fifth Symphony "Sinfonia di Sfere"
