Every year the Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin invites young musicians from Poland and other European countries to their headquarters to see the work of the orchestra's patron under the guidance of renowned instrumentalists and educators.

It has already been confirmed. The 10th jubilee edition of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra will start on August 10 and last until August 19, 2022. As every year, we invite talented, young instrumentalists from all over Europe to the Philharmonic in Szczecin to take part in the workshops, which will end with two symphonic concerts this year! One of them will take place in the golden hall of the Philharmonic in Szczecin, hailed as the most beautiful building in Europe in 2015, and the second will be a surprise.

It was a unique concert in many ways. We were all hungry for live music, not only the Szczecin audience but most of all musicians. Yes, it's today! The grand final concert of the 9th edition of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra will take place in the evening. At 10:00 in the golden hall, the general rehearsal in the Symphony Hall began. Our young instrumentalists are polishing the last details under the supervision of maestro Rune Bergmann to sound their best in the evening.

The entire Philharmonic is alive with preparations for the final Friday concert. In the corridors, next to the rehearsal rooms, you can hear how the individual sections of the instruments practice literally every detail so as not to leave anything to chance. Young musicians work intensively under the supervision of tutors but also practice individually, some until late in the evening. After the summer and pandemic break, our House of Music is teeming with life again.

M.M.M. is a pioneering program, which was created on the initiative of three institutions: the Philharmonic Mieczysław Karłowicz in Szczecin, Trafostacja Sztuki in Szczecin and Fjord Cadenza Festival in Norway.

On July 9th we closed the call for applications for the project. In the first stage, we received 99 applications, of which 65 people chose to play the required repertoire and send it to the tutors for evaluation. According to the repertoire and current restrictions, the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra can only have 38 members. And we already know their names!

Before we present next tutors, we need to oficially announce important change. Due to unknown coronavirus circumstances and limits, we are obligated to provide safe workshops and stay at ILYO 2021 for all participants. That's why we decide to change the programme and therefore number of musicians.
