Last day of preparations under tutor supervision
The entire Philharmonic is alive with preparations for the final Friday concert. In the corridors, next to the rehearsal rooms, you can hear how the individual sections of the instruments practice literally every detail so as not to leave anything to chance. Young musicians work intensively under the supervision of tutors but also practice individually, some until late in the evening. After the summer and pandemic break, our House of Music is teeming with life again.
In music education, we don't deal with such complex music. We usually move in the tonal realm. Here we have to discover many sounds, different sound effects that are hardly discussed in music schools. It only comes with time when we deal with such projects as ILYO – Paweł Maślanka, violin tutor and concertmaster of the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and one of the leaders of the West Side Sinfonietta, told us. We would also like to add that few youth orchestras deal with such a demanding repertoire as works by Lutosławski, Panufnik or Roussel. But this is also one of the distinguishing features of ILYO from other similar projects. We give young instrumentalists a chance to test themselves in contemporary music that they will play as future members of symphony orchestras. They often do not have the opportunity to learn beforehand from the performance side.

And this is really the last moment to ask our tutors for advice, before the great test in the golden hall, as it is tomorrow! Music lovers from Szczecin have already purchased all available tickets. ILYO has managed to take root in the musical landscape of our city. The final concert will also be broadcast online on the philharmonic YouTube channel; you will be able to watch it from every corner of the world!
Join us on August 27 at 19:00.
What songs will we hear performed by our young orchestra? Here is the complete list:

Albert Roussel – Little Suite for Orchestra, Op. 39
Witold Lutosławski – Chantefleurs et chantefables
Andrzej Panufnik – Symphony No. 5 Sinfonia di Sfere

The orchestra of our talented, young instrumentalists will be conducted by maestro Rune Bergmann (Artistic Director of the Philharmonic in Szczecin). In addition, the respected soprano Joanna Freszel will perform as a soloist.

It will be a beautiful evening!
